My name is Beryl Slade, and I call myself Snap, Scan & Stitch.

I live in the beautiful village of Oakamoor in the Churnet Valley in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

I have added a range of images to this site of my walks along the railway line and around the sports field here in thevillage. These images include fascinating fungi, flowers and insects; many ‘snapped’ during the COVID-19 lockdown. Along with the local images, I have also included a few from our holidays, both in the UK and further afield.

I enjoy ‘snapping’ (taking photographs), scanning objects on my flatbed scanner and stitching, using many media. The scans and photographs are often the inspiration for my textile work.

I love composing images of Surfaces and making Audio-Visual Presentations.
Scans mainly of shells and flowers; insects won’t stay still! The scans of snails, sea shells and water avens are the source of inspiration for much of my creative work.
