England

These SNAPS were taken on our holidays in England.

(More albums will be added – sometime!)

We visited Nothumberland in 2007 and again in May 2013.
Albums under construction.

We visited Northumberland in 2007 and again in May this year (2013).
We were very fortunate to have quite good weather a lot of the time, and I was able to walk on the beach from our holiday home in Low Newton by the Sea.  Whatever we had done in the day, I walked along the beach towards Dunstanburgh each evening, and so a lot of study of the beach, the sea and often Dunstanburgh Castle in the evening light.
We visited again in November 2013, but I have not yet added any of the photographs.
I am disappointed that many of the photographs lose a lot of their colour intensity when uploaded – I don’t know why.

We visited the Farne Islands in May 2016.  I am absolutely not a bird photographer but I loved to see them all and just had to snap some pictures.  It was a beautiful day with clear blues skies.

Work in progress – more to be added and ordered.

We enjoyed a visit to Bamburgh on each of our visits to Northumberland and this year explored some of the buildings as well as the beach with its views of the castle.

We stayed in Low Newton by the Sea this year and were able to walk from our holiday home straight onto the beach.  We could walk from the Low Newton Beach around to Embleton Bay with its wonderful golden sands and onwards to Dunstanburgh.  Dunstanburgh Castle dominated the view and although it was often not the object of my beach studies it attracted like a magnet and kept getting into my photographs!
We had also visited Dunstanburgh via Low Newton by the Sea and from Craster in 2007.

I am interested in the movement of the water of the river as it runs to the sea and then when the two waters meet.

The flow and patterns in sand are quite different.  The river makes an interesting, but sometimes strange, foreground to the sea and Dunstanburgh Castle.

We visited Hadrian’s Wall and Housesteads  Roman Fort.  Unfortunately it was rather dull for photographs but it was an interesting visit.

We also visited Cragside House and on the way to both noticed Edlingham ruined castle and 11th century church.
  More pictures to follow.

With my interest in Geology I was eager to visit Hunstanton.  Unfortunately we picked the wrong time of day and the cliff face was all in shadow.  It was a very difficult beach to walk on, starting at the cliff end.

Once upon a time Well was right next the sea but now the town is some distance from the coast with a tidal channel connecting it to the beach.   Wells is a favourite with holiday makers for its golden sands, its beach huts and its dog-friendly tearoom!

These are some of my SNAPS taken in the Lake District.  We have had time shares on the Langdale Estate in winter/spring, summer and autumn and these photographs were taken on those holidays.  Now we have only the autumn time share.

The first slideshow is from my AOL slideshow collection so that Marc in NZ can see some lovely autumnal English trees.  I shall be adding more recent Lake District albums – sometime!

These photographs are taken around our time share at the  Langdale Estate, Elterwater.  It was a particularly beautiful year for autumn colours.  I love the walk up to the quarry.
