Wales

We have visited Anglesey three times, in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Most of my images are coastal, and some of Parys Mountain in 2017 – 2018.
We last visited the area in 2019 and stayed at Llanddona Beach, with yet more wonderful sand patterns and sunsets.

The images in this album give a more general picture of our views around the bay.

Llanddonna – Sunset Sands

May 29, 2019

I have decided to put the sunset sands separately from the abstracts and the sunsets.  I prefer shorter albums.

The following pictures below were all taken from our cottage.

I have many more to choose from, so these may change, and some will be deleted.

Llanddonna – Anglesey Abstracts

May 23, 2019
We could see these shapes in the distance, but they were difficult to photograph.  More to come.

Mostly I have to crop the images to ‘extract’ the patterns and sometimes am unsure how much to ‘extract’ so there is more than one version of some images until I decide which to keep. I have to crop more from the landscape images, but of course, portrait images show less of a pattern.

Lligwy

We visited Anglesey in September 2017 and again in May 2018 and stayed in a lodge close to Lligwy Beach.

Lligwy Beach – On the Sands

October 23, 2018

We stayed in a lodge in Lligwy Bay.  It was just a 2-minute walk from the beach, and we could see the sea from the balcony.

I continued my study of the tides and the patterns made by the ebb and flow and the streams running into the sea.
Apart from one day when I stayed around the bay all day, my main forays to the beach were in the evening.

Lligwy Beach – Shore Shapes

October 23, 2018
I am fascinated by the shapes left on the shore as the tide goes out.   I have ‘played’ with some of these shapes on Anglesey, e.g. inverted the image but not changed the tidal shapes.  For most of these, I have copied the image and changed the blending mode before merging the two versions.

Lligwy Beach – Sunset Skies

October 23, 2018

Although not facing the west, I loved some of the sunsets, some reflected over the sea.

Dulas Island

‘My Island’ – Ynys Dulas
October 23, 2018

Dulas Island stands out in the bay, a rocky island on which many boats were shipwrecked.  The Lord and Lady of Dulas Island built a tower to protect shipwrecked sailors, and the tower was provisioned with food.

The island with its tower is an unusual feature of the bay and appears in many of my photographs.

Parys Mountain and Amlwych

We visited Parys Mountain and the Copper Kingdom in Amlwych in 2018.
October 23, 2018
We visited ‘Parys Mountain’ on both our holidays in 2017 and 2018.  I love the ‘lunar landscape’ and colours of the copper mine.

St. Cwyfan’s Church – The ‘Church in the Sea’

November 04, 2018

We visited St Cwyfan’s Church in the sea, or tried to!

The church can only be accessed along the coastal path, and the tide was in when we arrived.  I was unable to scramble over some very difficult rock surfaces, so had to be content with sheltering from the very strong wind in the little bay where we parked while David went closer.
The bay proved a delight for me as I looked closely at the colourful rocks and pebbles.
We went back later in the day, and I could walk on the beach but spent more time with rocks, shells, seaweeds and other interesting features such as a very ‘beautiful’ to me rust metal groyne.
